About Us

Set sail aboard the Sea Dart II for a unique experience!

Sea Scouts from Ship 228 hone their skills on the 65’ vessel Sea Dart II, along with a fleet of smaller vessels including sailboats, runabouts and paddle craft from the Liberty Nautical Educational (LiNE) base located in Linden, NJ. LiNE's vast combined resources offer the most diverse Sea Scouting program in the area. Somewhat different from traditional Scouting, Sea Scouting offers young adults the opportunity to travel and learn skills that could be useful in future careers, especially in maritime industry or environmental sciences. The program extends far beyond sea-going events and trips; it offers a variety of social events, training and leadership experiences. Whether you are steering the vessel, learning engine repair or visiting a new port on one of the many trips, there is something everyone will enjoy in Sea Scouting. So, try something different, check us out, and prepare yourself to set sail for a real adventure.

Parents, give your son or daughter a valuable gift by encouraging them to join Sea Scouting today. The time you invest in them today will make a difference in the person they become tomorrow.

Sea Scouting is open to boys and girls who are at least 14 years old (or 13 years of age and have completed 8th grade) and under 21 years of age.
